By car or by bus, the ferry is the fastest way to get to the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula.
Daily service available from Puntarenas to Paquera and return.
Tickets are available to purchase online, but don't panic if there are none left. You still have a chance to catch it since online bookings are limited. It's always good to check their website for updates on the service.

Fly

Costa Rica Green Airways offers an outstanding service carefully following today's health protocols.
Malpais and Santa Teresa is 40 minutes away from the domestic airport of Tambor. There are daily flights from San Jose to and from Tambor. The flight is about 30 minutes long.
Fly direct from San Jose to Tambor and we can arrange a taxi transfer to pick you up. It takes about an hour to reach us.

Rent a Car

Renting a car is a fun and convenient way to explore Costa Rica, offering stunning views and adventures on almost every step of the way.
Driving from the San Jose Airport to Puntarenas takes approximately 2 hours. In Puntarenas you board the ferry to Paquera across the Gulf of Nicoya. From Paquera it takes about 1 hour to drive to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa.
We recommend renting from Alamo or Budget since they both have offices in town.
